How a Double Dip Day Works

Four simple steps to your booking.

  1. Check in on Greene Street

The Double Dip checks in 30 minutes early at Fury's booth at 631 Greene Street, not at the Opal Key pier that Fury's one-stop reef trips use.

  2. First stop on the reef

The captain picks the locations for the day's weather. You get a mask, snorkel, fins, a vest and a briefing before the first swim.

  3. Move and go again

The boat repositions to a second spot on the reef for another swim. Top up your reef-safe sunscreen between stops.

  4. Drinks on the way home

Beer, wine, soda and water are included, and alcohol is served only once the snorkeling is over.

Two Stops vs One: Reef Trips Compared

Per person, checked November 2026. Snorkel time is what each listing states; the captain chooses the sites on the day.

Double dip

Double Dip vs a Single Reef Snorkel

If you want more time in the water than a standard Key West reef trip gives you, book Fury’s Key West Double-Dip Snorkel Tour: $73 per person for three hours (checked November 2026), rated 4.6 from 203 reviews on Viator. The same trip sells on GetYourGuide as Key West Double Dip: 2-Stop Reef Snorkeling Trip, also $73, rated 4.4 from 218 reviews. Fury’s Reef Express, a 57-foot power catamaran, stops at two locations on the reef, and the listing gives about an hour and a half of snorkeling in the three hours. Snorkel gear with a vest, reef-safe sunscreen, and beer, wine, soda and water are included, with alcohol served once snorkeling ends. Departures were listed at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. from Fury’s booth at 631 Greene Street, in front of the Conch Republic Seafood restaurant. You must know how to swim. Our review →

Does the Double Dip visit two reefs?

It makes two snorkel stops, but the listing does not name the reefs, and they may be two spots on the same reef. The GetYourGuide description says that after the first swim you are “transported to another ideal location on the reef”. Fury’s own site promises two living coral reef locations without naming them, and both listings say the snorkel locations depend on the weather and are at the captain’s discretion.

The reefs Key West boats often visit include Sand Key, about 7 miles west-southwest of Key West, and Rock Key and Eastern Dry Rocks to its east. NOAA gives the spurs at Sand Key as about 5 to 20 feet deep and Rock Key and Eastern Dry Rocks as 5 to 35 feet. Fury’s FAQ names Rock Key as a place where turtles are often seen. Any of these is one of the reefs the crew may choose on the day; none is promised. Our best snorkeling spots in Key West guide describes each one.

Double dip vs single reef

The real difference is time in the water. Here is what each listing says:

TripPrice per personStopsSnorkel time in the listingTrip length
Fury Double Dip$732About 1.5 hours3 hours
Fury reef snorkel (morning)$491About 30 to 60 minutes3 hours
Fury Rum and Reggae (sunset)$571About 30 to 40 minutes3 hours
Floridays Reef Snorkel & Sail$791About an hour at the reef3 hours

On Fury’s own trips, the Double Dip costs $24 more than the morning reef snorkel ($49) and $16 more than the afternoon or sunset departures ($57), for roughly 30 to 60 extra minutes in the water and a second site. Floridays’ Reef Snorkel & Sail costs $6 more than the Double Dip for a single, longer stop on a sailboat with soft drinks, beer, wine, margaritas and champagne. It is rated 4.7 from 569 reviews on Viator (our review).

Choose the Double Dip if you are a confident swimmer, want variety, or found a single stop too short last time. Moving gives you a second look if the first site is quiet. The Double Dip boat is built for speed, which Fury says means less time traveling and more time snorkeling.

Stay with one reef if anyone in your group gets seasick (Fury’s GetYourGuide listing says the Double Dip does not suit people prone to it), if children will tire after one swim, or if the trip is as much about the sail. For breakfast and mimosas, Sunset Watersports’ Rise and Reef is $59 per person, rated 4.5 from 744 reviews on Viator. For snorkeling followed by a sunset sail, Fury’s Rum and Reggae is $57, rated 4.4 from 399 reviews on Viator. Our morning snorkeling and sunset snorkel pages compare those.

Other two-stop trips in Key West

Sunset Watersports’ 2 Reef Snorkel Tour & Sunset Cruise is the other main two-reef option: $75 per person for three hours, rated 4.7 from 210 reviews on Viator, the highest rating of the two-stop trips here. You snorkel in the late afternoon, then the boat heads out for the sunset with beer and wine; non-snorkelers can stay aboard with a drink. It is seasonal. The Viator schedule showed dates from 7 March 2027, and the GetYourGuide version, Key West: 2 Reef Snorkel With Sunset Cruise ($70, 4.4 from 84 reviews), was first bookable on 31 January 2027. One reviewer on that trip found the first spot quiet and the second much better. Our review.

Sebago’s Low Country Seafood Two Stop Snorkel Adventure is a four-hour trip for $80 per person, rated 4.6 from 39 reviews on Viator, with an all-you-can-eat low country boil and an open bar after snorkeling. The listing says it snorkels at two locations, “such as Sand Key”, with time at each set by the captain. It is cheaper on GetYourGuide as Catamaran Snorkel with Seafood Boil and Open Bar, $70 per person and rated 4.6 from 22 reviews. It leaves from Sebago’s office on Lazy Way Lane, and the Viator schedule skips some dates, so check yours.

What to expect on board

Every guest signs a liability waiver before boarding, and guests 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Anyone 17 or under needs a chaperone of 18 or over with ID at check-in, children 14 and under need that chaperone with them on the trip, and every child needs a paid ticket. Groups of eight or more pay an automatic 10% gratuity at check-in; smaller groups tip as they choose. Towels are not included, and there is a restroom on the boat and another near the check-in booth.

Fury is strict about alcohol before the water: guests who arrive carrying drinks or under the influence are kept out of the water, turned away or rescheduled, and tickets are not refunded. Fury owns no parking, and the City of Key West’s Old Town garage at 301 Grinnell Street charges $6 an hour or $48 a day, plus tax. One reviewer found the meeting-point instructions unclear, so walk to the Greene Street booth the day before if you can.

In the water, keep your fins off the bottom. Touching or standing on coral is prohibited in the sanctuary’s protected zones, and NOAA notes that after the 2023 marine heatwave its own coral descriptions for the Key West reefs may be out of date. Expect reef fish and some coral at both stops, not the thickets in older photographs.

When the Double Dip runs, and winter trips

The Viator schedule for the Double Dip runs through October 2027, with no departures on 4 and 8 November. The sunset combo, with champagne after the second stop, runs from March through August. Fury says its trips will not leave in unsafe weather and that it will try to reschedule you during your stay.

In winter, two swims mean more time in cooler water. NOAA’s long-term mean at the Key West harbor gauge is 72.5°F in January, and Fury says reef water can dip into the mid-60s in winter. Wetsuits are a seasonal rental on the Double Dip listing, and Fury says January and February visitors may prefer one. The National Park Service notes that winter brings windier weather and rougher seas, which matters more on a trip that stops twice. See can you snorkel in Key West in winter? before you book a January Double Dip.
