How to Work Out What You Will Really Pay
Four steps from the search result to the final bill.
Choose the tier
A plain reef trip, a two-stop or dolphin trip, a schooner, a sandbar day or a private boat. Each step up adds to the per-person price, from $6 for breakfast to more than $100 for a sandbar day.
Open the option, not the headline
Some listings show a from-price that almost no date matches. Compare the price for the departure you would actually take.
Check per person or per group
Private boats are priced per group of up to six. Divide by your party size before you compare them with shared trips.
Add tips, parking and fees
Gratuities are excluded on almost every listing, Old Town parking is $6 an hour, and Snuba charges fuel and fees on top.

If saving money is the whole point, our cheap snorkeling page covers the budget end in detail. This page is about what each step up buys.
What each tier buys
Budget reef trip, $49. Fury’s reef snorkel is three hours on a large catamaran with one stop, gear, instruction and drinks once snorkeling is over. Fury’s listing puts time in the water at about 30 to 60 minutes. Our Fury review
Breakfast or open bar, $55 to $79. Another $6 to $11 buys breakfast on Sunset Watersports’ Rise and Reef ($59) or Sebago’s morning sail ($60), or an open bar in the afternoon on Sunset Watersports’ Dip and Sip ($59) and Sebago’s afternoon snorkel sail ($60). Floridays’ reef snorkel and sail is $79; its listing describes about an hour out, an hour at the reef and an hour back. Our Floridays review
Two reefs, $73 to $75. Fury’s Double Dip makes two snorkel stops for $73, or $24 more than the budget trip. Sunset Watersports’ two-reef snorkel and sunset cruise is $75, but it is seasonal: Viator had no rate for our test Saturday and its GetYourGuide copy opened only from 31 January 2027. See our double-dip page.
Dolphins and snorkeling, $73 to $143. Fury’s dolphin watch and snorkel costs the same $73 as its Double Dip and has 1,247 Viator reviews at 4.7. Sunset Watersports’ dolphin and snorkel sunset cruise is $80. Smaller boats cost more: Dolphin Echo’s shallow-water snorkel is $109 with a 14-passenger limit, and Honest Eco’s biologist-run dolphin and guided snorkel trip is $143 for four hours. Our dolphin snorkel page compares them.
Small-group schooner, $119 to $159. Danger Charters’ half-day sail, snorkel and kayak is $125 (one option is $135), limited to 20 guests, with wetsuits in the winter months and unlimited beer and wine. Its full-day trip adds lunch for $159. Key West Schooners’ backcountry sail, snorkel and kayak is $119. These trips sail in the Key West National Wildlife Refuge, so expect backcountry snorkeling, not a named offshore reef. Our Danger Charters review
Sandbar day, $110 to $161. Fury’s Island Adventure is $110 with kayaks, paddleboards and lunch. Sebago’s tiki-boat sandbar safari averages $150. Sunset Watersports’ sandbar and kayak tour with lunch is $161 on Viator and $150 on its GetYourGuide twin. The snorkeling and sandbar page explains what you do there.
Snuba, $160 plus fees. Snuba of Key West lets you breathe underwater from scuba equipment without a dive certificate. The listing excludes “fuel & fees”, paid directly to the operator, without giving the amount, and sells souvenir photos for $65 per group. It has no free cancellation. Our Snuba review
Private charter, $500 to $966 per group. Stock Island Charters’ private sandbar trip is $500 for up to six people, three hours. Danger Charters’ private sandbar and snorkel charter is $749, and Dolphin Safari’s private half day with dolphins, snorkeling and a sandbar is $966. Our private charters page compares them.
Headline price or real price?
The price in a search result is not always the price on your date. Three things move it.
Teaser prices. Sebago’s afternoon reef snorkel on GetYourGuide showed a headline of $45, but its first bookable date cost $60. The same trip on Viator showed $45 in search and $60 in its schedule. Sunset Watersports’ happy hour sandbar trip headlined at $150 and cost $161, with nothing bookable before March 2027.
Dates. Sebago’s morning sail is $60 on a typical day and was $50 on Saturday 14 November. Its tiki sandbar trip averages $150 but showed $130 and $190 for two sailings that same day.
Seasons. Some trips stop running for part of the year, as the two-reef sunset cruise shows. When a listing has no date in the next few weeks, the price you see may belong to next season.
The fix is the same each time: open the listing, pick your date and departure, and compare that number.
What the ticket leaves out
- Gratuities. Nearly every listing excludes them. Fury calls a tip customary and adds an automatic 10% for groups of eight or more at check-in.
- Parking. Fury provides no parking. The city’s Old Town garage at 301 Grinnell Street and the Key West Bight lot charge $6 an hour, up to $48 a day, plus tax; the Mallory Square lot is $7 an hour. Snuba of Key West and Dolphin Safari list free parking at their docks.
- Fuel and fees. Snuba charges them on top, amount not listed.
- Small rentals. Fury does not supply towels and rents wetsuits seasonally.
- Food and drinks on non-snorkel trips. Fury’s glass-bottom boat at $64 excludes snacks and soft drinks; its GetYourGuide listing mentions a cash snack bar at $2 an item.
What a couple or a family of four pays
Before tips and parking:
| Trip | Two people | Four people |
|---|---|---|
| Fury reef snorkel, morning | $98 | $196 |
| Sunset Watersports Rise and Reef (Viator) | $118 | $236 |
| Fury Double Dip | $146 | $292 |
| Danger Charters half day | $250 | $500 |
| Sunset Watersports sandbar day (Viator) | $322 | $644 |
| Stock Island Charters private sandbar | $500 | $500 |
Private boats get cheaper per head as the group grows. Stock Island Charters’ $500 trip works out at $125 each for four and about $83 each for six. For six people, Danger Charters’ private charter is about $125 each and Dolphin Safari’s about $161 each, close to or below the shared sandbar price.
When the dearer tier earns its price
A step up the ladder buys one of four things: food, a second stop, a smaller boat or more time. Decide which of those you care about before you compare prices.
- Food. If you would buy breakfast anyway, the $6 to $11 extra for a breakfast trip is close to break-even.
- A second stop. Fury’s Double Dip costs $24 more than the budget trip for a second site; it suits confident swimmers who want more time in the water.
- A smaller boat. The schooners and Dolphin Echo cap their numbers (20 guests on Danger Charters’ half day, 14 on Dolphin Echo), which matters if a crowded deck would spoil the day for you.
- More time. Sandbar days and the full-day schooner run five to six and a half hours, so part of the higher price is simply a longer day: $161 for five hours is about $32 an hour, against about $16 an hour for the $49 three-hour reef trip.
If none of those matter, the budget trip shows you the same reef. Our best snorkeling tours page matches each trip to a type of traveler.
